Lt. Hanrahan currently heads the Community and Staff Development Division. The Community and Staff Development Division oversees the School Resource Officer program, most of the community policing programs, the department’s policy development and accreditation program, officer training and development, records management, critical incident planning and many other functions that do not fall under the patrol, detective or traffic divisions.
Lt. Hanrahan joined the department in 1997. After spending sometime in the Patrol and Traffic Divisions Lt. Hanrahan was promoted to Sergeant in 2000 and later promoted to Lieutenant in 2002.
Lt. Hanrahan teaches police supervisors throughout the state in critical incident management for the Greater Boston Police Council and he also teaches police officers and police supervisors in criminal law and criminal procedure for the Municipal Police Institute. Lt. Hanrahan has a Bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement, a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Juris Doctorate Degree in Law. He is also a practicing attorney.
